In the cycle of construction and demolition in urban cities, previous inhabitants have adapted to find their own place within the architecture. Pigeons perch on poles, snakes hide in ventilators, and bees seek refuge in the gaps between walls. Ventilation tubes become popular spots for small, scampering creatures like rats and squirrels. I often hear the sound of their busy footsteps above my head, presenting a mix of feelings—sometimes they seem like enjoyable neighbours, while at other times they feel like unexpected intruders. Unknown Neighbours explores the dynamic relationship between human-built structures and the resilient wildlife that navigate and inhabit these urban environments.
